Biography of Spiritual Leaders
The past General Superintendents of the Sacred Cherubim and Seraphim Church.
Christianah was a promise child of Chief Awosika (Sasore of Ondo) and Madam Odage, both prominent citizens of Ode, Ondo. She grew up as a leader in the family, in the community and among the Christian congregation, who chose her as the Iyalode of the Christians — a title she held until her departure from life.
In 1926, on a trade trip to Lagos as Caterer/Contractor with the Prisons Department, she heard of Baba Aladura Moses Orimolade and went to him for prayer. Greatly impressed, she pledged to enrol as a member of the C & S Society. Baba Aladura sent missionaries to Ondo, where she worked relentlessly to spread the Society, leading to the establishment of the Cherubim and Seraphim Society, Ogo Olorun, 20 Barracks Road, Ondo on 28th May, 1927.
In 1932, God directed the great Prophet Emmanuel Adesanya to anoint her as a Prophetess at OriOke Olorunkole, Akinyele Village, Ibadan. She started Christian missionary journeys throughout the West and North of Nigeria and donated land for Ogo Olorun Parish, Ondo, and for Ogo Olorun C & S Primary School and Cemetery at Oke Sarowo Street, Ondo.
In 1936 she was unanimously elected the first General Superintendent (Iya Alakoso) of the established Sacred Cherubim and Seraphim Society (now Church). Her time was very peaceful and the society thrived under her administration. She had her last breath on 18th August, 1941 and was buried in her home town, Ode-Ondo.
